Definition:

A rope attached to the body or a harness and to a hard point (typically via a shibari ring, carabiner, or bamboo beam) used to suspend a model.

Notes:

Not all ropes are suitable or safe for use as uplines due to the strain placed on them during suspension. A widely accepted rule is that uplines should be capable of supporting ten times (10x) the model's weight. This is due to the difference in static and dynamic loads.
